Day Three - Clinton BC to Chetwynd BC 438 mi.

Today was…  Again, rather uneventful.  In the morning we met a couple who were on their way to Prudhoe Bay.  Nothing significant about that.  Besides the fact that they started at the southern tip of South America, and were on a motorcycle!  We took their picture for them and enjoyed leapfrogging them for the next 50 miles of our trip.  We also met another man who lives in Edmonton who had spent many years with bagpipers.  He came over to our vehicle after he heard me playing on my pipes.  He stated that he liked hearing the pipes even on the road to Alaska.  Kinda neat how we meet many different people from many different places, all on the trek through Canada.

Another thing that has been different is the change in fast food restaurants.  In Oregon and in Washington for that matter, you can almost guarantee that there will be a Subway and McDonald’s at every city, small or large.  Here in Canada, Subways and McDonald’s are not as common.  Instead, at many cities, you have an A&W and Tim Horton’s.

After lunch at A&W, we headed on to Prince George where we stopped at the visitor center and planned our next segment of the trip.  They recommended visiting the Hubble Homestead, just a little ways out of town.  So we did.  It was about 3 kilometers off the main highway, accessed by a gravel road.  On our short off road journey we saw our first bear in the wild on our trip.  It was just a small brown bear cub, but the mother could not have been too far off!  The homestead itself consisted of about a dozen buildings; Houses, stables, church, schoolhouse, etc.  We got there at closing time so our visit was short lived, though we did get to look around briefly.

Afterwards, we finished up the last leg of the day.  It was a long segment today, about eight hours.  After having dinner and reaching the hotel, I was able to post the first two days of our trip along with some pictures.
