Today we crossed into Canada. Taking fresh fruit over the border does not
work! Other than having to dispose of a
few apples and peaches, nothing went wrong.
Then we headed to Vancouver BC to Splashdown waterpark where we played
for several hours. The park was 30 years
old, and it did not look as if they had done very much maintenance in all the
years it was in existence. Aside from
deteriorating facilities, we enjoyed our stay, but were ready to hit the road
when the park closed.
After
several hours of driving we stopped in the town of Hope – pop. 6,500. We were
looking for gluten free bread and a tiny Safeway type store had it! Everybody was quite amused at our rabbit on a
leash. Willow got several curious
stares.
I took lots of pictures on our
drive and the scenery is starting to look a bit like Alaska. The change from the in currencies has been a
little entertaining as all the food appears to costs 20% more. Gotta keep reminding myself that not
everything is as expensive as it looks:)
Gas is also priced by the liter rather than the gallon and the distance
from place to place is in kilometers rather than miles. It feels so fulfilling to go 110 kph on the
highway!
After stopping in Hope, we headed
on to our destination for the night in Clinton BC. On our way we flipped the odometer on our
Yukon from 99,000 to 100,000 miles! We
also saw several old church buildings that looked pretty neat. Once reaching our hotel (once again, trip
went smoothly and quite uneventful) I tried to connect to the internet, but it
was just not happening. Thus, I was not
able to post anything on our trip and you all had to wait for an update.
